Christina Explains Style Change
Pop star Christina Aguilera has explained why she has moved away from her raunchy image and adopted more of a “Marilyn Monroe” look for her new album. The singer appeared topless on the cover of her last album ‘Stripped’ – with only her hair covering her breasts – and wore sexy outfits in the accompanying music videos. But Aguilera poses on a bed with bright red lipstick and curled blonde hair on the front of her new LP ‘Back To Basics’ and insists the look was inspired by a number of classy Hollywood legends.
She said: “I’m referencing Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Carole Lombard and Greta Garbo.
“We wanted an old Hollywood feel where you’re kind of in the bed, but also being inviting. We got to play a little dress-up. A huge element of this is also a 1920s circus theme.”
The ‘Dirrty’ star insists the style reflects the “lighter” mood expressed on the new record.
“For the ‘Stripped’ record, it was a very real and honest place for me, but it was also a darker place,” she added.
“So I feel really lifted. Things are lighter for me. I’m happier now than I have ever been.”
‘Back To Basics’ is out on August 14 and will be preceded by a new single, ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ on July 31

i just saw this video with Christina in it. I guess that it’s about Dave Stewart’s (from the Eurythmics) first group in the 70s that never released their album back then, and now there’s a big VH1 special on them tonight @ 6.

Personally I think this new style is cooler then the old one. But when Christina had her hair really curled and short it didn’t look as good as it does now! Love thew new look!
