Christina Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman have celebrated the birth of their newborn son by inducting him into Judaism with a traditional bris ceremony. The couple, who welcomed little Max Liron Bratman into the world on 12 January, held the Jewish naming and circumcision ceremony on Sunday to formalise the baby’s middle name, which means ‘my song’ or ‘my joy’ in Hebrew.

The bris usually takes place on the eighth day after the birth of the child and is attended by family and friends, who then join the couple for a celebratory meal.

Aguilera was raised as a Catholic, but has been learning about Judaism since her 2005 marriage to music executive Bratman.

Christina Aguilera, 27, and new son Max Liron, 5 days, were released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday, Christina’s rep confirms. A friend tells E! that Christina, “was and still is really sore — [the c-section] was more painful than she thought”.

Max was born at 10:05 pm Saturday evening, weighing in at 6 lbs, 2 oz and 20 ½ inches long. As for getting a peek at the baby, it may be awhile. The report states that Christina and Jordan rejected an offer from OK! magazine for Max’s first photos.

Christina Aguilera, 27, reportedly delivered her baby on Friday, Jan. 11, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the same hospital that Nicole Richie had her baby girl Harlow Winter Kate Madden just hours earlier.

Jordan Bratman, a music executive Christina married in 2005, is the father. Christina reportedly had her child around 4 pm and told friends and family via text message, “Baby has arrived. Mom and dad are doing well.”

It is not yet confirmed what the gender of the baby is. However, Christina is expected to have a son as she had a blue-themed baby shower at her Beverly Hills home in November.

Word on the street is that Christina Aguilera is already at Cedars awaiting a very special delivery—and we’re not talking ’bout the Domino’s kind. She has allegedly been there since last night, but when Planet Gossip’s Marc Malkin checked in this morning, her rep said there was nothing to announce…yet.

But will Nicole Richie beat her to the punch? She’s also expected to give birth at Cedars any day now. (For publicity’s sake, we hope the ladies are at least a couple of days apart!)
