There are reports out there that Christina Aguilera is interested in starring in “Burlesque,” a film about a modern-day striptease dancer. Although the site doesn’t have further information about how far along Christina is in the process of securing the role, there is word that “Dancing With the Stars” favorite Julianne Hough has also met with producers about co-starring as a pregnant showgirl.

Steve Antin, whose sister is Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin, wrote the script and is reportedly going to direct the film as well. Screen Gems, the studio behind the project, has confirmed that the movie in development, but added that it’s “too preliminary to comment on.” The studio is aiming for a January 2010 production start date. A rep for Aguilera had no comment about the casting news.

Playing a burlesque dancer on film wouldn’t be too difficult for Aguilera, who got saucy covering Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade” for the “Moulin Rogue” soundtrack. She followed that up with her stint as “Dirrty” Christina on her 2002 album, Stripped, posing topless for the cover. Then, in 2006, she embraced her inner pin-up for Back to Basics. This would be the first major film role for the singer.

While she’s kept quiet on the possibility of making her mark on the big screen, Aguilera has talked a bit about the follow-up to her recent best-of release, Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits. She told MTV News that said she wants the new album to have a more “futuristic” vibe: “It’s a challenge and an exciting new project for me to reinvent what I am doing yet again, and come up with something new and fresh.”

Christina Aguilera is rumored to be collaborating with some unlikely partners on her latest project. Goldfrapp, Ladytron, and Sia Furler are all said to have a spot in the creative process for her fourth studio album, due out later this year. This comes as a vast departure from some of her past partnerships with pop staple makers such as DJ Premier, Rich Harrison, and Mark Ronson.

Aguilera confirmed she and Sia would be hitting the studio in January. Sia has already influenced some of Aguilera’s work; she was largely responsible for the “Beautiful” remake “You Are What You Are” that is included on the “Keeps Getting’ Better: A Decade of Hits” compilation.

Pitchfork Media has confirmed that the electro group Ladytron has been in talks with Aguilera about working together early this year. Goldfrapp, however, has yet to make a statement regarding the possible collaboration.

Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie threw a joint birthday party for their children over the weekend. Christina and husband, Jordan Bratman, invited 40 guests to their Beverly Hills home on Saturday to celebrate the first birthdays of their son Max Liron and Harlow Winter Kate, Nicole and Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden’s daughter.

Max was born on 12 January 2008, the day after Nicole gave birth to Harlow. A source said: “The party was inspired by the children’s book Where The Wild Things Are, so Christina and Jordan got people dressed as the characters to come along and surprise the kids.

“Everyone was out in the garden, which had multi-coloured balloons tied to all the tress and looked great. All the guests had a wonderful time, and Max and Harlow loved the attention.” Los Angeles caterers Along Came Mary supplied child-friendly food for the bash, including peanut butter-and-jam sandwiches.

Christina Aguilera is said to be the next celebrity designer for London fashion chain TopShop. Topshop owner Philip Green has asked the pop star to design a new collection for the label. The “Genie in a Bottle” singer is expected to earn over $1 million per range that she will design for the Britain’s foremost fashion range. Topshop also sells a collection by British supermodel Kate Moss.

However, the 28-year-old singer’s designs will not replace Moss’ and both of the stars will continue to do separate collections. Christina’s designs are expected to appeal to a younger shopper than Kate. The 34-year-old supermodel has created seven collections since she was signed by Green in May 2007. Moss recently signed a new deal with Green for three more years and she will be developing lingerie and accessories on top of her fashion collections.
